She received a grant from the Lycée in 2018 to research diversity issues in children's book collections. She is an advocate for helping children of all backgrounds and experiences to find positive role models for themselves in the books they read. Jamie Laurens Coordinating Director for Student Well-Being - English Teacher Teacher and poet, Jamie is an avid proponent of using mindfulness strategies in school to help students manage the many demands and challenges of life in our fast-paced world. She received a year-long grant to explore the impact of such attention strategies, which began with a review of research on the brain, developmental neurobiology and emotional health. She has been a leader at the Lycée in developing with students and teachers, peer-to-peer strategies for sharing mindfulness practice inside and outside the classroom. Mylène Ardid & Carolyn O'Brien Fourth-Grade Teachers Mylène, who is French, and Carolyn, who is American, have been teachers in the Lycée's Primary School for over 10 years. Passionate educators with a deep interest in the impact of bilingualism on cognition and learning, they received a co-teaching research grant this year to explore literacy in bilingual learners. As part of their grant, they hosted a series of workshops this past year for Lycée parents interested in learning how to support bilingual learners at home. Daphnée Marchini-Block Fifth-Grade Teacher Daphnée became an Elementary School teacher at the Lycée in 2012.
